Personal Opinions

Nuclear power, I don’t know much about nuclear power, however, I think that can be a great source of energy if used correctly. I remember having a conversation with a teacher and he was telling me that nuclear power could be a viable solution to the energy shortage problem, but after what happened in Chernobyl (human error according to my teacher) no one would trust nuclear energy again. That really left me thinking about how somethings can influence our decisions, for example, I was talking to a friend a while ago and he told me how someone messed up his brother’s tattoo, so now he doesn’t ever want to get a tattoo. I have got to say that I am tempted to try tattoos someday, I would have to think it very seriously because it’s something that it’s going to be on you forever, well, not necessarily if you think of laser removing surgery, but I think that would cost a lot of money. I’d rather be “mechoneado”, for those of you who don’t know what that is, “mechoneo” is a “welcoming” tradition among university students, I think that at its heart is a great way to introduce new students to the university life (like the one that I had). I don’t know if it started with that intention, but through the years has become more of a mocking and bullying tradition, I sincerely don’t understand it, I think it’s at the same level as Hooligans, saving the distance of course, as a soccer fan myself I do not get the hooligan culture, I can understand that someone may “love” a soccer team, and that a little competitiveness it’s always okay. But, coming to the extremes to cause riots and actually hurt (or even kill) other people for a soccer match to me it’s crazy.

Childhood Series

When I was a kid I used to watch a lot of cartoons, but my favorite was Ben 10, it was on the Cartoon Network channel and I watch it every day in the morning before school. I loved the plot of the series and I thought the characters were really original. Furthermore, the opening sequence and song were amazing.
Later on, the series evolved into new seasons and storylines that I didn't like so I stopped watching it except when they rerun the old episodes. Nonetheless, I still remember Ben 10 with warm feelings and thoughts.

Another show that I watched was Powerpuff Girls, but when I was even younger. I remember a story that my parents always have told me about one day I was watching this series. So, it was in the morning and there was a blackout while I was watching an episode, so my parents had to call the electricity service company to try to restore the power, but that took a very long time, so I couldn't watch the end of the episode and I never knew what happened.

Postgraduate Studies

I haven't given much thought on if I'm going to take a postgraduate course after finishing my career, it's a decision that will have to wait for now, maybe in the future, who knows. But if I ever take a postgraduate course it would be something related to Media Arts or Audiovisual productions, because I believe it would be a great way of improving and complement my skills in artistic productions.

Even though I haven't decided anything yet, I've been doing some research on what the postgraduate degree would consist, and I've found out that there are some really interesting subjects to study, and the ones that caught my eye are the ones related to Applications and Technologies Area and Aesthetics and Theory Area, to mention some of them.

I think that the course would be here in Chile, that part is a little bit dull because I would like to keep my studies abroad, somewhere the artistic scenery is more relevant and the opportunities more diverse, on the other hand, here I would have my family to support me.

Normally I'd be okay with part-time courses but due to the situation that we're all currently on with the self-isolation and all, I've found that studying from home it's easier for me, I can distribute my time in a better and more organized way, so if the option to do distance learning presents itself, I will take it.

My Future Job

Well, I am currently studying Sound Engineering, and I don't know exactly what I am going to do for a living but I guess I'll figure it out when the time comes.
I chose this career because I started to have a taste for music and I wanted to work in closeness to music, but knowing that a career in arts would be hard in the professional aspect I ended up studying a career with engineering in the name, and so far it's been a great choice.

Anyway, my career offers a lot of areas I could work in, but lately I've been picturing me working in something related with the production of films or music, just being around that world is something that excites me very much. I think I would like to work indoors (generally a studio) but working on the field would be just as rewarding.
I often think that I should leave Chile to find more chances of working in the area I previously mentioned, so travelling for work or living abroad is something that I have been considering for some time now.

Working on another country would be a great chance to meet new people, have new experiences and mostly improve my knowledge about filmmaking and music production.

Pets

Hello there, today's topic is not an easy one for me mainly because I've never had a pet. Even tough I like animals in general, I think that I haven't had the chance to own a pet. So I'm going to be talking about my dad's pet.
One year ago my dad decided to have a pet, so he adopted a puppy dog, he's always been a fan of the X-men movies so he named the pup Wolverine.

Wolverine is now one year old, he is a mixed dog, very playful, VERY curious and loves to cuddle with people. He's still very young so he's really crazy and messy but it's nothing to be stressed about.
My dad takes him for a walk twice a day and whenever he needs to take Wolverine somewhere, he takes him on his bike in a little seat he built for the dog, Wolverine is a small dog so he fits perfectly.

Sometimes I have to take care of him for a day or two when my dad has to run some errands or something, and I really enjoy it. I'm a really stressful person so taking care of him is great for me , he always melts the stress away, his playfulness brightens my day.

Movie Review: Memento

Two years ago (I think) a relative of mine lended me a bunch of movies that I wanted to see - this due to a new found interest for films - and in the mix of movies I borrowed, there was a film called Memento by Cristopher Nolan. It's curious because before that, whenever I looked at the movie cover I tought it was like a horror movie. But I would say it is more of a psychological thriller, some film websites label the movie as film-noir genre.

The story follows a guy that suffers from short-term memory loss called Leonard, and he's trying to find the men that killed his wife and left him with said condition. So, given his memory problem he relys on Polaroid photographs and tattoos to remember what he's doing or what he has to do.

The thing that I found very atractive in the film is that it has an interesting way of storytelling, it has two different sequences of scenes, one in cronological order and the other in reverse order and they are intercalated until the ending when they come together.

It depicts issues like trust, self-delution and manipulation and how people believes on whatever they want to believe, even if the thing they want to believe is a lie.

The best concert ever

Hi there, today I wanted to share with you the best concert I have ever been, although I have to say that I haven't been in a lot of concerts, this one was the one I enjoyed the most. It was back in 2017, I was on my first year in the University and my aunt invited me to go see Inti-Illimani, one of my favorite bands in that particular moment (and still today), and she knew that.

A bit about Inti-Illimani, they were a chilean band from the late 60's until the early 2000's when they disolved and separated into two versions of Inti-Illimani, ''Histórico'' and ''Nuevo'', (we went to see Inti-Illimani Nuevo). They were one of the most popular bands of the musical movement called Nueva Canción Chilena.

I remember that it was a very like small and intimate event in a mall, no more than 50 people, and I remember that we got there really early and we sat on the first row of seats so we could watch them perform at a close distance. I loved every moment of it and every song they played, they sounded exactly like in the recorded versions and that was amazing !!!

A country I'd like to visit

Even though there's a lot countries I'd like to visit, there is one in particular that I think it would be a very interesting place to be, and that is Greenland, technically it isn't a country per se, it is really a county of the Kingdom of Denmark but still, is quite different.

I don't really know much about Greenland's history or culture, only the fact that I heard they have some fun activities like sled racing and ice fishing. Anyway there's just something about that place that gives me a very peaceful vibe, it's very quiet, calm and, well, the cold never bothered me anyway, in fact I love winter season. I think it would be a nice place to have a holiday and just relax, listen to music, read a good book by the fire, etc. Besides given Greenland is a greatly isolated place I believe that work or study chances would be very little and more given the nature of my career.
